Abiola Ajimobi has directed a 50 per cent cut in the monthly salaries and

Mr. Olalekan Alli while speaking with newsmen at the state secretariat, Ibadan
yesterday. The SSG further hinted that the adjustment in the take-home pay of
the political appointees would take immediate effect. The All Progressives
Congress led-government has been having a running battle with workers in the
state in the payment of their salaries. The state government paid the workers
last in April, which means they are being owed five months. While explaining
the reason for slashing the salaries, Alli said: “The slash in salary is for
all political appointees starting from the Governor, Deputy Governor,
Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Advisers, among others.” He
said the decision to slash the salaries was taken in the last executive council
meeting in the state. “This was approved by the governor along with his cabinet
members at the last executive members meeting. This will also include slash in
government expense profile, and compensation of political appointees.” he said
Alli further expressed optimism that the restructuring exercise and efforts of
the state government to block all loopholes would make positive impact on the
state Internally Generated Revenue. He used the forum to hint that a ten
thousand metric tonnes of Silo at Oyo town behind constructed by the state
government was about being completed.
